It's that time of year again where I spend weeks trying to create new ornaments for my big craft show of the year! I've been working with granny squares and triangles quite a bit and created this ornament to go along with them.

"Work this cute granny style cross up quickly with the scraps you have on hand and spruce up your tree or packages with a handmade addition this holiday season. Feel free to add any accents you like to make yours uniquely your own. Finished cross should measure between 4” & 5”, not counting the hanger, depending on your yarn choice & tension."
Here's what you'll need to get started.......
Materials:
Any WW4/Aran/10 Ply yarn (approx. 10yds)
G(4.25 mm) Hook
Scissors
Needle
Accessories: ex. Jute twine hanger, small bow, beads, buttons, or anything else you'd like add
Abbreviations(US Terms):
SK = Skip
sts = Stitches
ST = Stitch
SL= Slip Stitch
CH = Chain
DC = Double Crochet
gap = the space created on the CH 3 corner points
MR = Magic Ring

NOTES: If you would like to crochet the beads into your piece you can eliminate the corner CH 3's on ROUND 2 and instead feed a bead up to your hook and work over it on the first 3 corner points, if not then just follow the pattern and sew them on at the end with thread. Finished cross should measure between 4” & 5”, not counting the hanger, depending on your yarn choice & tension.
To begin create a Magic Ring
ROUND 1: CH3, place 2 DC in your MR, CH 3, Repeat(place 3 DC in your MR, CH 3) 3 times, SL to the top of your beginning CH 3 to connect
ROUND 2: SL in the next 2 DC sts & into your 1st CH 3 gap, repeat{work in the gap: [(CH 3, 2 DC) twice, CH 3, SL], SL in the next 3 DC sts and into the next gap] 3 times, work in the last gap: CH 3/2DC/CH 3/3 DC

ROUND 3: TURN, SL in the 1st 3 DC sts & into the gap, work in the last gap: CH 3/2DC/CH 3/3 DC
ROUND 4: TURN, SL in the 1st 3 DC sts & into the gap, work in the gap: CH3/5 DC/CH 3/SL into the gap, SL in the next 3 DC sts, Cut, tie off, & weave in your tails

Attach your beads to the top 3 corner points, a hanger to the top, & a bow to the hanger OR decorate however you like.
