Butterfly Triangle Crochet Pattern

Use these adorable triangles to create whatever you like from a table decoration to a scarf or even a bag or blanket.

Here's what you'll need to get started....


Materials:

Caron One Pound Yarn (approx. 45 yards per triangle)

Leaf: Aqua

Butterflies: Peach, Dusty Rose, & Lavender

Border: Denim

H(5mm) Hook

Scissors

Needle


Abbreviations(US Terms):

CH = Chain

ST = Stitch

sts = Stitches

SL= Slip Stitch

SC= Single Crochet

DC= Double Crochet

DCCL= Double Crochet Cluster = Double crochet together the # of sts stated


To Begin CH 4 and SL to the beginning CH to create a loop


ROUND 1: CH 1(does not count), place 12 SC in the loop, SL to your beginning SC to connect


ROUND 2:   CH 1(does not count), place 2 SC in each ST around, SL to your beginning SC to connect (24)


ROUND 3: CH 1(does not count) and SC in the next ST, chain 3 and SL into the same ST as your SC to make a loop. working counter clockwise into the loop place 2 SC, 4 DC, squish all of your sts over so that the 4th DC in as close to the center of the loop as possible, ch 2(not too tight) and SL to top of the 4th DC(picot), then back into the loop do 3 DC & 2 SC, back to your base circle: SC into the next 4 sts, chain 5 and SL into the same ST as your last SC to make a loop, Sc in the next 4 sts, REPEAT from 2 more times(SL to your beginning CH 1 for the final ST in the round instead of a 4th SC), Cut & tie off.

ROUND 4:(Butterflies) Working in the CH 5 loop and counter clockwise around: tie in new color to the right hand side of the loop(over the first CH of your CH 5) and CH 3, 3 DCCL, CH 3, SL into the loop,(note: squish all your stitches over to the right after completing each wing for the first 3 wings to make room) CH 3, 4 DCCL, CH 3, SL into the loop, CH 3, 4 DCCL, CH 3, SL into the loop, CH 3, 3 DCCL, CH 3, SL into the loop, SL in the back by bringing your hook to the back on the right side and your yarn to the back on the left side (this will close up the hole in the center of your butterfly somewhat),



bring your hook back to the front and CH 5, wrap the CH up over the top of the butterfly, and SL to the SL you made before chaining 5, cut and tie off.

Repeat the steps for all 3 Butterflies.

ROUND 5: Change Color for Border, Tie into any of the Picots on a leaf, CH 7, SL to the Back of the CH 5 in the center of the butterfly(see photo below), CH 7, SL into the next picot, Repeat from back to the beginning leaf picot.

ROUND 6: CH 3(counts as a DC), in the same ST Place DC/CH2/2DC, (in the CH gap place 7 DC, SKIP THE BUTTERFLY, in the CH gap place 7 DC, into the Picot Place 2 DC/CH 2/2 DC), Repeat , in the CH gap place 7 DC, SKIP THE BUTTERFLY, in the gap place 7 DC, SL to the top of your beginning CH 3

ROUND 7: CH 3, DC in the next ST, Place 2 DC/CH2/2DC in the CH 2 corner SP, DC in each ST across (18), REPEAT , Place 2 DC/CH2/2DC in the CH 2 corner SP, DC in each ST across (16), SL to your beginning CH 3 to connect. Cut, tie off, and weave in your ends.

Attach your triangles however you like in any order you like to create a center piece, a scarf, a bag, a wall hanging ....... the possibilities are endless.
