Swift Washcloth Crochet Pattern

Updated: Jul 16, 2023

This morning one of my Superhero Testers was looking for a pattern she had tested for me a while back. As I was on the hunt, I came across a half-written washcloth e-book and about a half dozen patterns that are included in my first Washcloth E-book that I never released on their own.

Hopefully I can get these projects and a couple more finished up before the end of the year. I decided to start off by adding my "Swift Washcloth" pattern here. This one has been my go-to washcloth pattern for years. It's so ingrained in my brain it was hard to slow down and write it out as it's become muscle memory at this point.

Here's what you'll need to get started......

Materials:

Premier 100% Cotton(approx. 50 yds)

H(5 mm) Hook

Scissors

Needle

Abbreviations(US Terms):

SK = Skip

sts = Stitches

ST = Stitch

SL= Slip Stitch

CH = Chain

SC = Single Crochet

HDC= Half Double Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

NOTES: Finished measurement with this pattern is approximately 7.25” x 7.5”.

To begin CH 25

ROW 1: SC in the 2nd CH from the hook and in each ST across(24 total counting your skipped chs at the beginning as your first ST)

ROW 2 & 3: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, HDC in each ST across (24 total)

ROW 4 & 5: CH 3(counts as first ST) & turn, DC in each ST across(24 total)

Repeat ROWS 2-5

Repeat ROWS 2-5

Repeat ROWS 2 & 3

ROW 16: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in each ST across (24 total)

TRIM: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in each ST across (24 total), Rotate to work down the side, place 1 SC in the ends of the SC & HDC rows and 2 SC in the ends of the DC rows (22 total), Rotate to work across the bottom, place 1 SC in each CH across(24 total), Rotate to work up the other side, place 1 SC in the ends of the SC & HDC rows and 2 SC in the ends of the DC rows (22 total), SL to your beginning HDC to connect. Cut, tie off & weave in your ends.

That's it! Super simple with just a little pizazz.
