Flower Bookmark Crochet Pattern

Looking for a little something extra special to hold your place in your favorite book? Check out this super cute flower bookmark. These are perfect for a little gift or last minute craft show stock in the spring!
Finished bookmark should be 14” long, but will stretch longer. Feel free to adapt the chain length in STEP 2 to the length you need and to use up your scrap yarn to make these, any WW4/Aran/10 ply yarn should work fine.
Here's what you'll need to get started.......
Materials:
Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek Yarns in Green & another color(approx. 15 yds total)
G(4.25 mm) Hook
Scissors
Needle
Abbreviations(US Terms):
sts = Stitches
ST = Stitch
SL= Slip Stitch
MR = Magic Ring
CH = Chain
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
Picot = Chain the required amount & SL back into the top of your Stitch before the chain

Leaf, chain, & flower center: with green yarn
CH 8, DC in the 4th CH from your hook,
DC, HDC, HDC,
in the last ST place 2SC/CH 2 Picot/SC,
rotate to work along the bottom of your CH(work over your tail),
HDC, HDC, DC, DC, CH 3 & SL in the last ST.
Pull your starting tail a bit to squish up the sts on your leaf.
STEP 2: CH 50(or as long as you like), place 4 HDC in the second CH from your hook, skip over the CH and rotate to work along the bottom of the same CH, place an additional 4 HDC in the same chain, SL to your beginning HDC to connect. Cut & tie off leaving a longer tail to use to sew the hole in the center shut.
Flower Petals:
Attach your other yarn choice to any HDC from STEP 2.
(CH 3, place 2 DC/CH3/SL in the same ST, SL in the next ST) 8 times, SL in the “SL to connect” from the end of STEP 2. Cut, tie off & weave in your ends.
