Tulip Bag Crochet Pattern

Last year I jumped on board the organization team for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes in my church and am now spending every moment I can gathering up goodies, making items, and encouraging others to do the same. So, to encourage and help all of you, I will be adding all my cute little patterns here on my blog over the months for you all to use too.

"Super Simple purse pattern perfect for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, a little handmade accessory for your little one, or a scarp busting addition to your craft show stock. Finished bag should measure approximately 6” tall (not including the strap) with this yarn, however feel free to use any WW4/Aran/10Ply yarn you have on hand."
Here's what you'll need to get started.......
Materials:
Red Heart Super Saver Yarn(approx. 58 yds)
I(Boye 5.25mm) Hook
Scissors
Needle
Abbreviations(US Terms):
SK = Skip
sts = Stitches
ST = Stitch
SL= Slip Stitch
CH = Chain
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
INC = Place 2 sts in one ST
DEC = complete one stitch over 2 sts

NOTES: Finished bag should measure approximately 6” tall not including the strap.
To begin CH 4 & SL to your beginning CH to connect to create a loop (or create a Magic Ring if you like).
ROUND 1: CH 3(counts as a DC), place 11 DC in your starting loop, SL to the top of your beginning CH 3 to connect(12)
ROUND 2: CH 3(counts as a DC), place an additional DC in the first ST, DC INC in each ST around, SL to the top of your beginning CH 3 to connect(24)
ROUND 3: CH 3(counts as a DC), place an additional DC in the first ST, DC in the next ST, repeat (DC INC, DC) 11 times, SL to the top of your beginning CH 3 to connect(36)
ROUND 4: CH 3(counts as a DC), place an additional DC in the first ST, DC in the next 5 sts, repeat (DC INC, DC in the next 5 sts) 5 times, SL to the top of your beginning CH 3 to connect(42)

ROUNDS 5-11: CH 3(counts as a DC), DC in each ST around, SL to the top of your beginning CH 3 to connect(42)
ROUND 12: CH 1(does not count as a ST), repeat(HDC 5 sts, HDC DEC) 6 times, SL to your first HDC to connect(36)

ROUND 13: CH 1(does not count as a ST), repeat(SC, 3 DC, SC, SK 1, SL, SK 1) 6 times, SL to your beginning SC to connect. Cut, tie off, & weave in your ends.

Strap:
Leaving a couple inches for a tail, CH 85, cut leaving an identical tail & tie off.
Thread your tail onto your needle. Starting after the 2nd ST, weave in & out every 2 sts around the HDC sts on round 12. tie your 2 ends together & trim them.
