Anyone else love the look of a nice puff stitch while still dreading making them? Just me? I absolutely adore them, but always seem to drop them before closing them off and hate having to take too long creating anything honestly. I wanted some pizazz for a hat I was creating about a year ago and thought I'm going to figure out a way to make a stitch that pops without having to fiddle with a giant puff.
My new release for this week is the Agee Headwrap crochet pattern!
"Introducing the Agee Headwrap crochet pattern, a beautifully textured design that is perfect for keeping your ears warm in style. The unique Agee stitch pattern creates a cozy and adorable headwrap that is perfect for adults. This headwrap crochet pattern is designed to be worn as an ear warmer, providing both functionality and fashion. Designed to fit the average adult female head circumference and includes the multiples needed to adapt the Agee stitch pattern to other sizes. With its textured and intricate design, this headwrap is sure to make a statement while keeping you warm and stylish."
Now the puff isn't necessarily unique for a puff stitch, but I wanted to find a way to make it pop more, so with a little trial and error I realized that some well-placed stitches on the next row would help. I've placed a few photos at the bottom of the PDF to show the placement, and a helpful tip too.
The finished measurement should be approximately 9.5” by 3.25” however thanks to the stretch of this design & yarn it will stretch larger. Depending on your tension this one will use up about 57 yards of any ww4/aran/10 ply yarn you might have on hand so it's also a great scrap-buster. I am strictly a Boye hook user, so my J is a 5.75 not the normal 6mm of the other brands. A 6mm should work just fine, but if you are a super loose crocheter you may need to go down to an I to get the same measurements.
