Here's what you'll need to get started....


Materials:

I Love this Cotton yarn (approx. 52 yds)

I(5.25mm) Hook

Scissors

Needle


Abbreviations(US Terms):

SK = Skip

sts = Stitches

ST = Stitch

SL= Slip Stitch

CH = Chain

SC = Single Crochet

HDC = Half Double Crochet

DC = Double Crochet

BLO = Back Loop Only

FLO = Front Loop Only

FP = Front Post

FBL = Front Bottom Loop

X ST = DC in the next empty CH SP, CH1, place a 2nd DC in the previous CH SP


NOTES: Final measurement with this pattern should be approximately 5” wide & 16” long. To adapt the Crossroads Stitch pattern to other widths chain any multiple of 2 +1 to begin. Keep in mind this stitch is stretchy. Also if you want to create a shorter version skip rounds 10-15. To begin CH 17

ROUND 1: place 2 HDC sts in the 2nd CH from the hook, HDC in each ST across(15), place a 2nd HDC in the last ST & rotate to work along the bottom of your starting CH, HDC in each CH across(14), SL to your beginning HDC to connect (32 total)

ROUND 2: CH 1(does not count as a ST), SC in each ST around, SL to your beginning SC to connect(32)


ROUND 3: CH 1(does not count as a ST), repeat(HDC, CH1/SK1) 16 times, SL to your beginning HDC to connect(32)


ROUND 4: TURN, SL in the CH SP, CH4(counts as DC+CH1 for your first ST), DC in the previous CH SP, (X ST) 14 times, DC in the same CH SP as your first DC, CH 1, DC in the previous CH SP, SL to the 3rd CH of your beginning CH 4(16 X's)


ROUND 5: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, repeat (HDC in the SP between the Xs, *DC in the front bars of the X) 16 times, SL to your first HDC to connect (32 sts)

*YO, insert your hook under the bars, YO & pull up a loop, (YO & pull through 2) twice/arrow shows where to insert your hook

ROUND 6: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, beginning in the next ST repeat (SC, SC FLO) 16 times, SL to your first SC to connect(32 sts)


ROUND 7: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, HDC BLO around, SL to your first HDC to connect(32)


ROUND 8: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, FBL HDC around, SL to your first HDC to connect(32 sts)


ROUND 9: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, repeat(HDC, CH1/SK1) 16 times, SL to your beginning HDC to connect(32)

ROUNDS 10-15: REPEAT (ROUNDS 4-9)


ROUND 16: CH 1(does NOT count as a ST) & turn, place 2 HDC in each CH SP around, SL to your beginning HDC to connect(32)


ROUND 17: CH 1 & turn, SC in each ST around, SL to your beginning SC to connect(32)

Cut, tie off, & weave in your ends.


Straps(make 2):

CH 45, weave your tail end in and out of the spaces between your 2 HDC sts on ROUND 13 beginning at the seam side fold, SL to your first CH to connect, cut, tie off and hide your end in the chain. Now repeat the process but start at the opposite side fold to weave in your chain.
