Avery Washcloth Crochet Pattern

Learn my textured Avery Stitch pattern and create a useful washcloth too! The multiples needed to adapt this stitch pattern are also included so you can create any size you wish.

Here's what you'll need to get started....
Materials:
Lily Sugar n' Cream Cotton yarn (approx. 65 yds)
H (5 mm) Hook
Scissors
Needle
Abbreviations(US Terms):
SK = Skip
sts = Stitches
ST = Stitch
CH = Chain
SC = Single Crochet
HDC= Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
BLO = Back Loop Only
FP = Front Post
FBL = Front Bottom Loop
Notes: To adjust the length of the Avery stitch chain multiples of 3 + 2 added at the end. Your total stich count will be your chain count minus 1. Finished washcloth should measure approx. 7.5” long by 7” wide with this pattern & yardage.

To begin CH 26
ROW 1: HDC in the 2nd CH from your hook & in each CH across(25)
ROW 2: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & TURN, FBL HDC 24 across, HDC in the last ST(25)

ROW 3: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & TURN, HDC in the first ST, repeat(place a FP HDC & a FP DC on the next ST, HDC in the next ST, SK 1) 7 times, place a FP HDC & a FP DC on the next ST, SK 1, HDC in the last ST(25)
ROW 4: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & TURN, SC in each ST across(25)
ROW 5: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & TURN, HDC BLO 24 sts, HDC in the last ST(25)
ROWS 6-21: REPEAT (ROWS 2-5) 4 times
ROW 22: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & TURN, FBL SC 24 across, SC in the last ST(25)
TRIM: the first side of trim is SC while the other sides are HDC to help alleviate the lean created by the HDC & FBL rows and for asthetic reasons.
CH 1(does not count as a ST) & TURN, SC in each ST across(25),
CH 1 & rotate to work along the row ends, HDC in the same ST & in the end of each ROW, HDC in the first CH(22),
CH 1 & rotate to work along the starting CH, HDC 25,
CH 1 & rotate to work along the row ends, HDC in the same ST & in the end of each ROW, HDC in the same ST as your first SC(22), SL to your first SC to connect. Cut, tie off, & weave in your ends.
