I created this awesome little bag about a year ago along with some other patterns with my Keek Stitch design but somewhere along the way it was forgotten. It made it the whole way through the testing process and just needed a few minor edits and pictures, before wandering off.
I'm not sure what it was up to for all those months, but it finally made it's way back to my pile of patterns to be released. I'm so excited to have it home that I am releasing it for FREE here on my Blog!!
Keek Stitch Bag
Here's what you'll need to get started:
Peaches & Cream 100% Cotton (approx. 315 yds)
SK = Skip
sts = Stitches
ST = Stitch
CH = Chain
SC = Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
TC = Treble Crochet
Special Stitch = Keek Stitch:
STEP 1: Yarn over twice, insert your hook into the CH SP, wrap your hook and pull up a loop, wrap your hook & pull through 2
STEP 2: Yarn over twice, insert your hook into the CH SP, wrap your hook and pull up a loop, wrap your hook & pull through 2
STEP 3: Yarn over once, insert your hook into the CH SP, wrap your hook and pull up a loop, (wrap your hook & pull through 2) 6 times
STEP 4: CH 2, SC in the 2nd pull through 2 (from STEP 3, see photo below)
Notes: You can adapt this stitch pattern to any size by chaining any multiple of 4 and adding an additional 2 chains at the end. Finished bag should be approx. 12” tall not including the strap.
To begin CH 42
ROW 1: SC in the 2nd CH from the hook and in the next 40 sts, place 2 more SC in the last ST and rotate to work along the bottom of the CH, SC in each of the next 40 sts, place 1 more SC in the last ST, SL to your first SC to connect (84 total)

(stitch marker shows where to place

(photo shows completed Keek Stitch)
ROW 8: CH1(Does not count as a ST) & turn, HDC in the same ST, (CH 1, 3 HDC in the CH 2 SP, CH 1, HDC in the TC) across, ending with 3 HDC in the last CH 2 SP, CH 1, SL to your beginning HDC to connect
ROW 9: CH 1(Does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in the same ST, SK the CH SP and SC in the next 3 HDC sts, (SC together the CH 1 spaces skipping the HDC, SC in the 3 HDC sts) across, SK the last CH SP, SL to your beginning SC to connect(84 total)
NOTE: SC together the CH 1 spaces by inserting your hook in the first CH SP & pull up a loop, SK the HDC, insert your hook in the next CH SP & pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on your hook
ROW 10 & 11: CH 1(Does not count as a ST) & turn, HDC in each ST around, SL to your beginning HDC to connect(84 total)
ROWS 12-17: REPEAT ROWS 6-11
ROWS 18-23: REPEAT ROWS 6-11
ROWS 24-27: REPEAT ROWS 6-9
ROW 28: CH 3(counts as first ST) & turn, DC in each ST around, SL to the 3rd CH of your beginning CH 3 to connect(84 total)
ROW 29: CH 1(Does not count as a ST) & turn, HDC in each ST around, SL to your beginning HDC to connect(84 total)
ROW 1(short strap, approx. 20”): CH 1(Does not count as a ST), DO NOT
TURN, HDC in the next 6 sts
ROWS 2-50: CH 1(Does not count as a ST) & turn, HDC in each ST across(6)
NOTE: If you would like a longer strap just continue repeating until you reach your desired length.
Flip your bag inside out. Skip 36 sts from the last ST of your first ROW of your strap, SL ST the end of the strap to the next 6 sts. Cut, tie off, and weave in your ends.
Turn your bag right side out before continuing on. To make the drawstring simply CH about 120 and tie off. You will be feeding the CH through the DCs in ROW28. Count over 17 sts from either strap, insert the CH and weave in and out of every 2 sts around leaving 2 sts unworked at the end. Pull tight and tie a bow. I recommend tying extra knots into the ends of your chain to keep it from coming undone.
