Gnome Puff CAL Part 1

If you didn't already grab your supplies, here's what you will need to get started......

Materials:

Red Heart Super Saver Yarns(approx. 105 yds total)

H(5 mm) Hook & G(4.25 mm) Hook(for leaves)

Scissors

Needle

20mm Wooden Bead

Fiber Fill Stuffing

Optional: Bell, Jute twine, Beads, other accessories

Abbreviations(US Terms):

SK = Skip

sts = Stitches

ST = Stitch

SL= Slip Stitch

CH = Chain

SC = Single Crochet

SC 2 TOG = SC the next 2 sts together

NOTES: Finished gnome should measure approx. 9” tall. We will begin by creating the beard first, and then the hat brim.

To begin CH 5 with Aran(or any tan color),

ROW 1: SC in the 2nd CH from your hook & in the next 3(4)

ROW 2: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in the first 3 sts, 2 SC in the last ST, CH 3 (5 + 3 CHs)

ROW 3: SC in the 2nd CH from your hook & in the next CH, SC 5(7)

ROW 4: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in the first 6 sts, 2 SC in the last ST, CH 3 (8 + 3 CHs)

ROW 5: SC in the 2nd CH from your hook & in the next CH, SC 8(10)

ROW 6: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in the first 9 sts, 2 SC in the last ST, CH 3 (11 + 3 CHs)

ROW 7: SC in the 2nd CH from your hook & in the next CH, SC 11(13)

ROWS 8-13: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in each ST across(13)

ROW 14: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC 10(do not continue on to the end)(10)

ROW 15: turn, SC 10

ROW 16: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC 7(do not continue on to the end)(7)

ROW 17: turn, SC 7

ROW 18: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC 4(do not continue on to the end)(4)

ROW 19: turn, SL 4, cut & tie off.

Attach your bead for the nose to the center of your beard about 4 sts in.

HAT BRIM:

To begin CH 19 with Red

ROW 1: SC in the 2nd CH from your hook and in the next 17 chains(18)

ROW 2: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in the 1st ST, place 2 SC in the next ST, SC in the next 14 sts, 2 SC in the next ST, SC in the last ST(20)

ROW 3: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in the first 4 sts, place 2 SC in the next ST, SC in the next 10 sts, 2 SC in the next ST, SC in the last 4 sts(22)

ROWS 4 & 5: CH 1(does not count as a ST) & turn, SC in each ST across(22),cut & tie off.
